The Economist — On the origin of specie

Theories on where money comes from say something about where the dollar and euro will go
The Economist
On the origin of specie
(h/t Miles Kimball at Confessions of a Supply-Side Liberal)

Way out of paradigm. The Economist?
MONEY is perhaps the most basic building-block in economics. It helps states collect taxes to fund public goods.
At least Charles Goodhart and Cartalism are featured. Progress.

No mention of Aristotle and his nomisma here to be found Tom.

You would think that these eggheads would look to the Greeks??? Are not the Greeks looked upon with some respect within the academe?

It would seem to me that this would perhaps be the first place an academic would go??

Instead it seems like they are willing to look for clues every place but Aristotle and/or the Greco/Romans...

No mention of David Graeber, etc. either. Pretty sparse. But giving Goodhart and "Cartalism" as shout out was very good.
